Part 8: Frame Preparation
The manual from IMT for this 700 series crane recommends that stiffener plates be added to the frame to close up the C of the frame and make it into a box. This is so the long attachment bolts don’t crush the C-channel when they are tightened. I cut off some 5/16” thick plate, 6” wide and the height of the frame, and welded those into position in the four locations. I forgot to take a picture, so the image from the manual will have to suffice.
